McGrath Development, a San Diego-based developer that manages 1 million square feet of commercial and industrial real estate, initially used spreadsheets to handle its accounting and property management needs.
Sage Timberline Office accounting and property management software offered a unified solution flexible enough to handle McGrath's detail-oriented, hands-on methods of doing business.
No more time crunch for reconciliations
Recent enhancements from Sage Timberline Office have helped McGrath streamline its month-end close, shortening the process by about a week, says Ed Mendis, McGrath chief financial officer. "We were looking at the last week of the month before we were truly done with everything, including all reconciliations," Mendis says. "Now we're fairly consistently getting it done in about two and a half to three weeks."
McGrath appreciates the way Sage Timberline Office keeps upgrading and improving its software, offering its customers ways to improve their efficiency. As examples, Mendis pointed to the way he now only needs to change the month and dollar amount on recurring payables instead of inputting purchase orders again, and recurring journal entries, where he can simply post them instead of inputting three or four pages of depreciation entries.
Easier and faster
"Most of the enhancements are geared toward providing more information or making the process faster and easier," Mendis says.
In addition to software itself, McGrath has found Sage Timberline Office technical support to be easily accessible and helpful," Mendis says. "This is software that does exactly what we want it to do."
Overall, he says McGrath's experience with Sage Timberline Office has been very positive. "From a cost standpoint to effectiveness and what is produced, I think Sage Timberline Office delivers a very good value."
