Once commercial contractor Gardiner & Gardiner realized its hundreds of requests for information were taking too many hours to log and track, it turned to Timberline Office Project Management.
After being put to the test, the software enabled the contractor to automatically create, track, and retrieve RFIs, submittals, and transmittals ... and link to accounting to exchange cost and contract information.
Integration replaces separate logs and apps
According to the Crofton, Md.-based company's Chief Financial Officer Ron Block, the savings in time and money is substantial.
"The project manager no longer has to keep a separate log in a separate software application," Block says. "Instead, he can just update the log already created in Timberline Office. That simplifies the process since those RFIs and submittals go through several stages before they're totally handled or the issue is closed."
The fact that the software works with Gardiner & Gardiner's Timberline accounting is a plus, he says.
Streamlined bidding
"While Project Management is very useful on its own, there's added value because it integrates with the other Timberline Office applications," Block says.
Block is also using Address Book as a bid invitation list database.
"Address Book will change our bidding process forever," he says.
"Timberline Office is a good product and the company has a good outlook. They're sensitive to the needs of their users and aware of what's going on in our industry," Block says. "I'm really pleased. This Project Management module makes a big difference."
